Children gain an understanding of the fatherhood of God based on the reality of what happens through our earthly fathers. Some fathers understand this and some fathers might have a long ways to go. It’s not about how smart you are and not about where you’ve been or what you’ve done, it’s about how much you devote yourself to God in the midst of it.
It’s not very common for God’s voice to boom out of the heavens and tell us specifically what to do with our lives. But He does put us around people and in communities. We often wait for God to call us to great things when He’s asking us to be a friend to those in need around us. Yes, people around the world need Jesus, but so does your neighbor.
Often times when we think of our calling we default to preaching or playing an instrument or working with kids. We put it in a category or a box and say this is my calling or my ministry. In Tom’s message, today he points out that our calling is to minister to everyone around us.
